A HS DIPLOMA IS LIKE THE LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR AS FAR AS GETTING A JOB. PEOPLE ARE HAVING TO GET MASTERS DEGREES NOW JUST TO COMPETE...BACHELOR DEGREES ARE ALMOST A GIVEN....
WHY PUT SOOO MUCH EMPHASIS ON THE HS DEILPOMA WHEN YOU CAN GET YOUR GED, OR AN ASSOCIATES AND STILL GET YOUR BACHELORS????
YES IT IS GOOD TO GET..I WILL NOT DOWNPLAY IT COMPLETELY...BUT SERIOUSLY....THIS IS MORE CHILDISH AND IMMATURE THAN THE KIDS EARNING THEM!!!!

This is one of the few opportunities where kids can get props from their family and friends especially for those who were not in sports or drama or extracurricular activities and didn't get their applause in 4 yrs..now they don't even get THAT!! ridiculous!!!

The school system isn't childish, it's anti-child, anti-acheivement, anti-pride, and anti-education.
Apparently we should only show our enthusiam and pride for things that REALLY matter...like sports!

Yeah, that's pretty ridiculous. But they earned it, they just didn't have the actual diploma itself. And no one ever asks to see that. Still pretty stupid though.

punish the kids for something out of their control. doesn't seem fair. sounds like they are getting the best lesson learned yet... sometimes in life you just get screwed.
