You can remove data, temp, files, cookies, history, by going to your IE toolbar, open tools, open internet options and then you will delete, temp., files, delete, history, delete, cookies, and double click on ok.
You can also run an excellent free program I use. CCleaner. http://www.ccleaner.com All new versions are downloaded over the old version.
One think I should tell you is that the data will always remain on your HDD. Any forensic computer expert can strip the data off the HDD. There is no software no matter what they claim that will bleach, or wipe over and over the HDD. The data will still be there.
If you are going to sell or get rid of your pc, the only way to destroy the data on the HDD, so no expert can strip the data off, is to beat the HDD, to death with a hammer, or remove the HDD, and place in a safe.

You can erase your history all you want - but it will not make a difference if your machine is infected. You need to familiarize yourself with malware threats by name and what they do. This is very easy here:
THREATS FAQ:
http://www.bluecollarpc.net/threatsfaq.html
There is the area of computer survellience software that has been turned into spyware. This type of software allows taking pictures of everything you are looking at, copying everything you type, and also compiles history of everywhere your mouse cursor points to and clicks. In malware spyware it is generally under the heading of "keyloggers". They will couple this type software with a trojan and possibly other malware and it adds a SMTP Mailer that sends out the information to them. RELAX... If you were infected, your accounts would have been maxxed out by now COMPLETELY.
What you need as a minimum to do financial transaction over the Internet today is PAID subscription firewall, antivirus, and antispyware. The paid antivirus and antispyware activate real time protection which blocks installations as these - or will detect them in the computer memory as soon as they attempt to activate in real time. Viruses are able to steal information and send it back. It is a real one-two whammy today and flourishing like the great Prohibition Era in the USA.
Paid firewalls activate real time shredders of email addresses, private header information, and any last 5 digit numbers you type in at the ID Security Vault. When you do a transaction like buy or bill-pay and so on, the paid firewall is shredding this information BEFORE it hits temporary files and browser history. A great one for this was the Norton Peronal Firewall. There are a few others and check the features before buying. Cheaper unknown ones do not have these features.
A last note about history erasure is to look up the goverment strength cleaners. Here is an example:
Total Shield Tracks Cleaner 1.60
http://www.topshareware.com/Total-Shield-Tracks-Cleaner-download-41477.htm
"Total Shield Tracks Cleaner is software for erasing online and offline traces. Total Shield Tracks Cleaner erases traces using Government-strength removal techniques for better security and privacy protection. It completely cleans up the browser history, cache, cookies, typed URLs, auto-complete list, saved passwords, index.dat files, e-mail history for major web browsers, Windows temporary files. "
