Never heard of that. We used to hook the old pop tabs together to make chains and necklaces. Can't say I've ever worn one though.

When my Dad was stationed in Hawaii, with the Marine Corps, we would raid my Mom's sewing kit and use the thread and needles to make our own plumeria leis, and sell them on the corner.
We would also go beach combing for glass balls and sea shells, and sell them too. Marines can be so soft hearted when it comes to 10 year olds selling junk on the street for loose change. Gotta love the Corps!
Of course with that being the Marine Corps, in the 70's, there was an abundance of beer can pop tops laying around. We made necklaces, chains, beaded door curtains, and one over zealous kid made a vest out of them. Ironically, I don't ever remember using them to make a knight's armored suit. It would have been perfect.

Yes and we taught our children and now the grandchildren enjoy putting clover bracelets and necklaces all over Grandma. I think it is really neat.

ya, sometimes. It fun to show my friends when I was in kinder garden. Sometimes, I would add a dandelion and tie it around the front.
