Mooch, you are doing something great. When I was a young girl, I got the thrill of 2 weeks of summer camp. That is one of my best childhood memories. I remember every detail, including the kind, patient consoulers. Yes, I spelled it right. Soul. Just show them love. They may act aloof. but i promise you that your good deeds will not go unnoticed or forgotten. Sorry you have been sick. Hope you're better soon...susan m

You'll be a total wreck when you return and you'll have a wonderful time when you're out there.
I did something similar once for two weeks, lost 15 pounds
came back on a Friday evening dragged myself to my bed,
and woke up 11 o'clock Sunday morning.
One of my best memories ever!, No your not nuts but you're
probably pleasantly unhinged, or will be after this trip.
TIP : Eat those Cookies pronto and bring Peanut Butter on the trip,
forget about healthy food. You'll need instant Energy.

OK, let's say I knew aliens are gonna abduct me and erase my mind 24 hours ahead of it happening. I would gather all my closest friends, the ones I really love and just try and put onto words what they've meant to me and that though my mind and memories will be gone, as long as I am myself I will never forget them. I would ask my parents and some of those closest friends for forgiveness for all the things that I have put them through. And last, I'd probably rob a band, travel to Las Vegas and then steal or buy a Corvette ZR1 and race through the desert to Los Angeles in the night (I've always wanted to do that).

No, you're not crazy, you're awesome! My advice (my husband used to be on staff at youth for christ) is to keep a big picture perspective. Don't sweat the small stuff. Remind yourself why you're doing it. Be full of patience and grace for the kids. You'll never regret being patient or gracious, but you will regret not being! Also, don't be afraid to try to connect on a deep level with the kids. They won't seek you out or drift into deep conversation, but most are willing to be led there. Also, keep an eye out, and a prayer on, which kids really need you. It's not always the quiet ones, sometimes it's the most loud and seemingly confident ones. Anyway, grace to you!

Absolutely great! They will be out of jail for one week. Don't take any shaving cream or toothpaste! Got an extra supply of headache medicine?Better plan on having that with you. Take extra sets of clean clothes and hide them at the office.
My husband and I have done this before. They play lots of pranks but any positive time with youth is worth it.

lol......yeah you're a little nuts. but you have to be if you're in charge of 23 teens. don't act like you are their parent.....try to be more of a friend. i know when i was a teen, i hated going to youth retreats because the counselors acted like they were our parents and were always lecturing and correcting us even when we didn't really do anything wrong. good luck!

Just remember that the youth are our future. And you possibly will be building a memory that may last them for their lifetime. Enjoy and God Bless You.

Um-huh, but in the best possible way. Just follow your instincts. From what I've gathered, you've got pretty good ones.
