I ran a full system scan using norton anti-virus 2007, and it found this Backdoor.graybird virus that it couldnt remove. It just opened a page that reviewed the virus (http://securityresponse.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2003-040217-2506-99),
but its still on my laptop. Can somone please tell me how to remove it?

Nortons is not really all that good at removing viruses.
I suggest you use what is known as "online scanner". Kaspersky Lab Russia, rated # 1 in the world for virus detection will scan your entire system direct from their servers. Scan may take upto two hours, depending on how many running processes you have and how many programs installed. Allow the entire scan to complete as it will kill the virus in real time. No conflict with Symantec. After the complete scan and virus is killed, I suggest you reboot your pc. Some one said it is spyware, they are wrong. It is a virus.

Norton can't get rid of it because it isn't a virus, it's spyware. To get rid of it, you need to Get SpyBot Search & Destroy to safely remove spyware. Best of all, it’s free. After installing it, immunize the computer against over 18,000 known pieces of spyware. Then run a full bot check and remove everything it finds using the Fix Selected Problems tab. Keep it updated and run it weekly to keep your computer free of this stuff. Then get Ad-Aware also from download.com and run it the first time doing a Full System Scan. Thereafter, run a Smart Scan daily.

Keep them both updated and use them.

Ditch all your anti this and anti that crap and obtain Avast homestead and secret agent ware Terminator. Run tha Avast test first, then the Terminator will blast by any trojans, worms, and so forth. as quickly as they're working in universal, finished time mode, they do no longer zap your factors and are not extraordinarily intrusive, like maximum different courses are.
