Normally you buy plants already growing, not as seeds. I would suggest some java moss or java ferns for your tank. They stay fairly small and will grow without any special lighting at all.

Planted tanks require much more than people think. I'm turning my 29 gallon into a low-med light planted one. I've got specialized lighting (power compact), specialized substrate (flourish) and am working on what fertilizers I will use and whether I'll inject CO2. It's going to cost more than $200 by the end of it, and I already have the tank! Silk plants look nice, why not get some of those.

The only good live plant that I'd recommend without special lighting is java moss. The plant is very hardy and has minimal requirements. You'll probably have to order it online as most pet stores don't carry it.

I will go with osme java moss if you have a light in your aquairum. If you don't buy a small piece of driwftwood and tie a java fern to it. All though i will recommend the java moss
