When I was a kid back in the 60s, my dad answered this very question with: “...democrats wear $20 suites do honest labor and drive Chevies. Republicans on the other hand, wear $100 suites work in air conditioned offices and drive Buicks.” So I asked him “why would anyone want to be a democrat?” Being a good democrat, he had no answer.
I think the basic answer is this, Democrats tend to lean toward a large government that will take care of the entire population, cradle to grave. A government like this requires redistribution of wealth, the ”rich” are to pay for the ”poor” This appeals to those who have little. In practice, this philosophy does not work. Those receiving have no motivation to change, the contributors have no reason to work hard as their gains are taken by the government. Democrats tend to split the population into two groups: those
'who have" and those "who have not". They pander to the "who have not” group by promising increased benefits by taking from the other group via taxes.
Republicans tend to believe more in the ability of the individual. If things are hard for you, change your situation...you have the power to do so. They also (claim) to want a smaller central government with fewer entitlements...fewer taxes for all.
So if you put more trust in the government than yourself, you may be a democrat.
For the record, I consider myself a libratarian leaning toward objectivism.

If all of us solutions, "Republicans are extra proper. Democrats are extra proper..." and so on., do no longer hear to that. The northern Republicans, working example, supported carpetbaggers in southern governments. After Reconstruction, the Republicans favourite a severe shielding tariff and have been many times seen the defenders of northeastern and organisation interests. The celebration supported the Spanish-American conflict and the enlargement of u . s . territory distant places. some Republicans have been element of the progressive stream of the early twentieth century. interior the 1920s, the celebration reestablished its popularity for helping organisation and as being careful of any enlargement of the placement of government in national existence. This characterization continues to be an exceptionally precise, if simplistic, description of basic Republican perspectives.

There is no difference.
Just vote for the person who you feel represents what you stand for no matter what Party they belong to.
That's how I vote...I am a registered Democrat but I often vote Republican as well. I don't agree with everything the Democrats stand for and the same goes for the Republicans too.
I go with the candidate who represents my feelings.

I usually think Republicans think only about themselves and Democrats think more about the American people. The Republicans are backed by the Christian Right, but I don't think Jesus is given a consideration at all. I always think What would Jesus do? Would he attack and kill thousands of innocent people, would he let poor people suffer because they can't afford health insurance because they work at WalMart? Would he let children go to bed hungry every night? Does that give you a better idea?

None! both are ruining our country by petty squabbles and corruption. Join a third party. Libertarian, Green, Independent, or any other party that actually cares for a common goal for America and not lining there pockets with corporate gold. Just think for yourself and vote your mind.

Democrats = higher taxes, abortions for all, higher taxes, weak military, higher taxes, better welfare for non working Americans, higher taxes, constitutional rights to terrorists, higher taxes, and hatred towards anybody who doesn't agree with them. Oh yeah......higher taxes.
Republicans = get them BEFORE they get us, lower taxes for WORKING Americans, strong defense, take no crap from Europeans, and lower taxes! And oh by the way, they LOVE Christmas!
