nah, bob hears ya.
today kids dont know shi't about what it means to be lyrical, Big L's punchlines were and still are legendary, lil waynes are mediocre at best and who do the kids say has the best punchlines? bob bets 95% of the kids dont even know who big L is.
Kool G Rap and Big Pun were some of the best at bending and using syllables to be able to do whatever the fu'ck they wanted and just make a ill verse with it, today 95% of the kids cant even recognize a rhyme scheme and praise pop rappers who just say words that rhyme.
Today its all about rapping about same old bullshit, i sell marijuana, i drink liquor, that hoes givin me head, i got more money then you, im in a gang, im a gangster, i kill people. I mean back in the day it was about breaking down barriers, being original and just rapping about whatever to show off your lyrical skills, the wu-tang even rapped about chess. Back in the day they used to rap about some of the things they rap about today, but no where near as much and when they did it they did it with style and raw SKILL something most of todays rappers lack.
Todays rap is so bad good emcees gotta go underground to get appreciation.

You are definitely not the only one, but I for one do not. If you make an effort you can still find tons of great music, which is far more lyrically advanced than some of the old stuff. I wouldn't complain if hip-hop went back to the 90s, but compared to some of the stuff I am hearing nowadays the 80s would just be primitive. I am not talking about Young Joc or Young Jeezy, I am talking about One Be Lo and the Cunninlynguists and artists like them. Plus the production nowadays is much better in my opinion.

Definitely, these bubble gum rappers out here are garbage today, I don't even listen to the radio anymore. I also 2nd that on Lil Wayne, am I the only one who doesn't know what he's saying??
The only cats that I get down with today are E-40 and The Game.
My 80s/90s rappers are Kurupt, KRS-One, Ice Cube, Chuck D from Public Enemy and you can't forget Run-D.M.C.

no your not the only one. i'm sick of these new artists having one wack hit single and being considered legends already. what the hell is going on? hip hop is in a state of major turmoil and confusion right now. the labels keep putting out pointless music. what happened to the real? nas, ice cube, and bone thugs came out with some good albums lately, probably the best albums recently. but why are they being over looked? especially to crap like MIMS and T.I. or lil wayne. freakin horrible, is there no respect or credit for these legends? especially because they are some of the top contributors to hip hop.

I hear you man!, I long for the days of REAL hip-hop. Kool G Rap was definately one of the great ones along with Rakim and Big Daddy Kane!

Yeah boi! I feel ya. Dat stuff dat they play on da radio sounds like a sick goat gettin pimp slapped while drowning in da middle of da ocean. However, there is great rap music dat is new, but all da good stuff is all underground. There are some underground rappers dat are tight, they know what they doin. Dis a good question.
