First of all, I love rap. Rap and hip-hop is way better than rock. If ya like rock, I am not dissin ya, but you need to listen to what talent there is out there (underground rap). Second of all, 99% of the people dat go to my school like rap and hate rock. But on dis website, most people seem to like rock. WHY IS DAT? Are most people on this website adults? Cuz it seems kinda weird, cuz I have gotten dissed online by people dat say, "Rap sucks and so do you", and ,"Your accent is rediculous". I may be an outcast at school, but no one has ever said something bad about me liking rap, cuz everybody at my school likes rap. So why do ya think dat not a lot of people on dis sight like rap, and if ya love rap music like me, please tell me why people even like rock, cuz us rap fans know what true poetry and real talent really is.

I'm one of the people who likes rock and doesn't like rap. It probably has a lot to do with my generation. I'm 42 and you know older people tend to like stuff from when they were younger. I have my opinions, but really it doesn't matter because it's just my opinion. If you like rap and hip-hop, then that is what you like and I'm not going to change you, just like you're not going to change me.

To tell you the truth I am a rock fan. I am not an adult and I go to school. But when I really want something with a cool beat, rap never fails. I agree with you that people gotta give rap a chance, because if you dont hear it, how would you ever know if there is one artist out there that is really cool. I'm just saying that I like rock, but rap can really hit the spot sometimes, and their is no reason to dis someone that beleives that rap is cool.

How much money do you make with Rap?
Yes, it is true that most people in the unemployment line like rap more then rock but that does not feed the bull dog does it?
Your accent is fine for the "Little Rascals" or on "OZ" but you won't see many people who go to Harvard or Yale saying "Dis" and "Dat"!
To enjoy the finer things in life you should know all kinds of music. Modern, Jazz, Classical, R&B, Gospel, Regae, Bluegrass and the list goes on.
Believe me when I say that your children will have their own style of music and think your music is odd--at best.
Every generation thinks thier music is the ultimate trip.
I have seen many fads in music come and go but Rock and Roll has outlived most of these fads and it was started by the black performers and copied by all the rest of the world.
Rap, gospel, jazz are another example of music that was invented by the black culture and taken over by the rest of the world.
Nothing is constant in life but change. Good luck..nothing last forever. Music is universal to all cultures and so is art. Music is just another form of art.

I disagree - Let's see how much rap is remembered in 30, 40 or 50 years. Not much. Most current rap is god awful and conveys nothing.
Rock has always been a vehicle of protest and change. Rap owes a lot to rock. In fact, many rap song lift guitar riffs & lyrics from classic rock songs. Some of the most profound lyrics have come from rock.
To me, much of rap is unoriginal & contains lyrics which praise violence, abuse of women, over indulgence and ongoing prejudices. Many rap songs point the finger at others as the problem, rather than pointing the finger at themselves.

Why must you choose? True poetry is someone like Mos Def yes, but true poetry is also a group like Radiohead. I don't understand why anyone would stay confined to one genre when they don't have to. Rap is by far my favorite form of music, but that doesn't mean I don't like other types. I think you are demonstrating hypocrisy here, you wonder why rock lovers don't like rap, but then you dismiss rock for no reason. I say whoever insults the other genre clearly doesn't know or make an effort to know enough about that genre of music. I mean, anyone who judges rap on Young Joc and judges rock on Panic! At The Disco isn't judging accurately at all.
George G, just to let you know, rap is actually a subgenre of rock. So it should sound like it.

Haven't you learned that everyone has an opinion. If you like rap, hey great for your taste. Others think that sucks, my opinion. rock was loud and obnoxious to people but obviously there are loads of people that were born in that era that they still enjoy that kind of music...So if you are on your teens and that's the kind of music that everybody in school likes
because it is popular now you will continue to like it... age has nothing to do with it, just different liking....Enjoy your rap.

Yeah I know what your saying, like rock and country they don`t really go deep into what they are saying. But hip-hop, like the good hip-hop is really deep, true poetry and I love it! And I hate when people say to me that rap sucks, I don`t go around saying i hate country music.
