Other than having been in the senate for two sessions he really doesn't have a lot of qualifications to be President. For the right wing, he has the qualifications of being anti-gun control, he is pro-life, and he does like the idea of bringing stae and reoigion closer togetherl 'all the things that Liberals stand against againstl

What qualifications did the chimp have? None, right. At least Fred Thompson has a law degree and you don't get that just given to you when your daddy opens his checkbook! He was a Senator for 4 years so he has experience in how to deal with creating and getting bills passed by congress. He is "conservative" although that particular word and what it means is totally created by the media. He is popular with the people and even though he is an actor, so what - Reagan was too!
I don't think he would blatantly lie to the people as the current administration does and has done in the past! He is NOT a woman who has no business being president of the local PTA! And he is negative of the war in Iraq and would get us out of a bad situation that continues to deteriorate everyday!
Is there someone better?

If your question isn't just political rhetoric, then you evidently haven't researched Fred Thompson's broad experience and excellent qualifications, which are posted on Wikipedia and
on many other internet sources.

He is a conservative. He is not one of these Democrats do no wrong and Republicans do all right.
Since I sat through a fundraiser that he spoke at last week, I think I can add to it.
1. His stance on immigration is why should we trust the feds to do anything when they refuse to enforce existing laws.
2. He is a small government, lower taxes conservative.
3. He is pro life
4. He supports the originalist interpretation of the Constitution
5. He supports the 10th Amendment that allows states to make law on civil unions, but believes that other states do not have to honor it.
6. He supports fighting the terrorists.
7. He is sick of all the stupid partisanship in DC. He gave some nice comments to Sen Lieberman for being honest to his convictions.
8. He believes that government is not the solution to problems, only make them worse. On health care, people need to buy it themselves. I am guessing on the last line based on what he has said.
I think it will be Thompson/Romney as the winning ticket
We need another strong conservative, like our last real conservative, Ronald Reagan

Thompson's record as a Senator is very unremarkable and his work ethic has been brought into question.
Beyond playing military roles, judges, etc. in movies, he has no qualifications.

if compared to other potential candidates, he has all the qualifications in the world. it is not a question of " is he qualified enough?" but rather "is he the most qualified?".

Same as Hillary's: Senate and acting. But he's not as good as Hillary, because he's less ruthless, has principles, believes in individuals and not groups as the bases for rights, and believes in free enterprise rather than communism.
