Is there a shopping mall in Boston, MA that also has movie cinema? I tried searching most local malls like Prudential Center and Cambridge Galleria and none of them have movies. Why not? It seems strange to me that a huge city like Boston does not have a decent mall with movies. I recently moved here from Miami and almost every mall there had huge cinemas. What is up with that?

There are places in Boston that do have movie theaters and malls.

The Prudential Center used to have a cinema, which was located in the Copley area. But unfortunately, it closed down years ago. It was a fairly nice theater.

One of the best locations that's closest to what you're looking for, would be the AMC Fenway, which is by Fenway Park and Audubon Circle. It's really not an official mall per se, but a strip mall of brand name stores such as Best Buy, Staples, Bed Bath and Beyond, etc. AMC theaters is located there and it's 13 theaters in one. You have to pay for parking but it's conveniently located by the T.

While I've never been to Miami and I don't want to make assumptions, generally I think Boston has so many old developments that it's been difficult to combine both a shopping mall and a movie theater into one. Boston doesn't have much land, if any at all for new developments so shopping and theaters stand on their own without any connections. My theory is that since Boston is so historic and it's so expensive, is that there is so much property development here that it's impossible to create a two in one combination like a shopping mall with a movie theater. The suburbs offer the ripe opportunities for theater and mall owners to develop property like the Liberty Tree Mall in Danvers, which houses an AMC chain (which is roughly a 25 minute drive north of Boston on the highway) and the Independence Mall houses Regal Cinemas in Kingston (which is a 30 minute drive south of Boston on the highway).

Generally, the closest you're ever going to get to movie theaters and shopping malls is that they're within the same area but not in the same area.

Boston used to have several cinemas in malls, but about 5 years ago there was a movement to create huge cinemas that exist on their own. There is the AMC Fenway, which has already been mentioned, it is attached to a shopping area. The AMC Boston Common is the newest and largest theater in Boston and is located right by the Boston Public Gardens and in the heart of Downtown Crossing which is full of a variety of shops. Boston is not a huge city so its not as if you can't walk to these theaters. The theaters that do exist are very new high end locations that have a large number of screens, when these theaters were built the other cinemas closed to avoid the saturation of the market.

The Burlington Mall 25 minutes north of the city has a multiplex adjacent to the mall. While the Natick mall does not have a cinema right in the building, a short drive to the IMAX theater located at Jordan's Furniture is well worth the trip.

It is VERY strange indeed, but it's been like that forever!

There is one in Boston. It's at Copley Place which is connected to Prudential center (so you were close!).

Outside of Boston, you've got a couple of choices. Other than Route 9 in Framingham/Natick area where they're very close to malls, the closest one that comes to mind is either at Braintree (Braintree mall off of 95, just south of Boston) or Chestnut Hill Mall, just west of Boston on Rt. 9 in Newton (http://www.moviewatcher.com/).

Plus, there's one in Danvers (Liberty Tree mall).

Hope that helps!

to some volume, particular. My husband works the Chicago Marathon each three hundred and sixty 5 days, and he commented final night that if he'd been doing a similar job in Boston, he could have been real interior the area of the explosions. of course this introduced homestead the reality of the attack in a manner not the rest could have, and it incredibly is made me worried on the subject of the potential for a copycat attack in October, while the Chicago Marathon would be run. apart from, I as quickly as called Boston homestead and be conscious of the section the place the explosions handed off extremely nicely. I lived interior of sight and used to bypass out to cheer on the Marathon runners each Patriots' Day. That, too, made the form extra actual to me. besides the fact that, I knew somebody who died on 9/11, and as undesirable as this tragedy is, it pales in assessment, nevertheless not, I comprehend, for the kin of the ineffective and heavily wounded. as nicely, my instincts are telling me that this exchange into not an attack via foreign places terrorists yet quite the paintings of a homegrown nutcase. That by some capacity places a distinctive complexion on the project, nevertheless of course i must be entirely incorrect.
