Everything we conceive with the limited power of the senses and the mind exists in a Cosmos. A new cosmos forms with a big bang that occurred billions of years ago. The cosmic clouds birthed many universes... each universe containing millions of galaxies and each galaxy containing millions of stars. Our solar system is governed by sun... a very small star! A Galaxy is a large number of star systems bound by their collective gravity, and forming a large scale system.
Galaxies can have several hundred billion stars.
The universe is the sum total of everything that exists, can be observed and can interact with other objects in the universe.
Thus, parallel universe, if they were to exist, would not be experienceable within our current universe.

A galaxy is a group of stars(billions) grouped together by gravitational force. They can be elliptical, spiral, or irregular. We are in the milky way galaxy, one of billions of other galaxies that are scattered around the universe. The universe is the infinite "everything", that includes planets, stars, galaxies, nebulae, black holes, matter, dark matter, and everything else.
