Would you vote your government out of power for a world government, dissolve national boundaries, and choose one language even if it wasn't your own, and give up past grievances to become part of a nation of the people of Earth?

Would you ignore all the propoganda and fear-mongering that would prevent you from doing such a thing?

Do you believe in this statement:
"The role of government is to provided services, security, and nothing else."

Yes, yes, and yes again. Unfortunately, most of mankind is far too primitive to accept this concept. It will take an event of astronomical proportion to convince mankind that this is an inevitable right of passage toward evolving in the universe.

No

I don't believe a "world" government could adequately understand or represent my needs. The bureacracy that would be required to extend a "world" government into a local culture would be horrendous. Few national governments are even able to acheive this, much less a far larger "world" government.

Except for a few service and charity agencies, few world- wide entities are successfully run with a single central "head". Even major corporations break themselves into divisions that are responsive to differing cultures and philosophies. The world can't even decide if it's government should be theologic or non-sectarian, much less achieve a universal and fair treatment on any given law.

Your final statement is ambiguous. Whether I agree with that statement depends on the scope of the "provided services" you're referring to. But I do agree that any government, national or local, should be as minimal as possible.

No way!! I love traveling to other countries and abiding by a different set of laws! Who's laws would we follow??? I want to enjoy some pot in Amsterdam in public without being paranoid of cops!!! I'm over 21 now, but I thoroughly enjoyed legally drinking under the age of 21 in different countries!! I respect people who understand more than one language, and I love hearing different languages, and especially love hearing them with accents!! Who's language would we all fall under??? I like the world being different. It's what makes life so exciting and worthwhile. I want to travel to a different country and embrace a different culture, not merely a different history.

And I don't fully understand your statement "The role of government is to provided services, security, and nothing else". What does the government do right now? Aren't all these laws set in place for our "protection"? Anti junk food laws, FDA, drugs laws, curfew laws, helmet laws, seat belt laws, and other laws I can't think of at the moment... Well, I agree they should provide services regarding education and health, but don't they already do that? A little poorly, but they do it... So there is your "security" and "services"... Well, what about things like anti-trust laws, preventing corporations from conspiring with other companies in the same field to increases the price of their products to a ridiculously outrageous prices? Or regarding the treatment of animals, or regulating hunting laws, how about seperation of church and state? What about TV and movie ratings? etc...?

This would be a challenging endeavor but your thinking is ahead of it's time. You are indeed an anachronism in perspective and I salute you. Yes, I agree and not only do I agree but also think your conception is inevitable.
