I was just curious about whether or not Charles HAS to be next in line or if Queen Elizabeth could somehow make William the next king?

My mother is from England and she is convinced that Queen Elizabeth will outlive Charles simply so he can't be king.

No. The order of succession is set by British laws, enacted by Parliament. The current monarch has no say in anyone else's place in the line of succession.

Charles is next in line. Unless of course Charles predeceases Queen Elizabeth then the throne would pass to William. An Act of Parliament may deny Charles the Throne but I don't think Parliament would do that. I think they want Charles to ascend so the people would wish an end to the Monarchy instead (just a theory).

No. Charles is Prince of Wales, the legal heir to the throne. The Queen has no say about who succeeds her, the Act of Succession passed by Parliament dictates the heir.

Charles could abdicate, but he will not do that, he has been in training to be the monarch all his life. Though his reign is likely to be short, he will be a good king. He is far more in tune with the times than the present advisors to the Throne.

Well, if Charles could predecease his mother then that would be the time that Prince William of Wales would be King of the United Kingdom.

The correct answer is the British Parliament sets the order of succession. Only they can change the order. If Charles decides to step aside he tells Parliament.

if somehow Charles dies or is unable to do the job, then id say that the bloodline would have to go first not the way that any person can choose who's next in line.

Yes. Charles became "unsuitable" to take the throne when he had an extra-marital affair while still married to Princess Diana.
