It is considered "the humane thing to do" when an animal is euthanized due to severe illness as to which there is no cure. It is a loving act, done to prohibit the suffering.
Altho some of the facts are a bit cloudy in his case, why is it not the same for people? Because of how our family and friends, religious beliefs, and moral standards are, it is wrong to end the life of another human being when they are suffering. We are told we are playing God, when in fact the person suffering has made the choice. We do not give our animals this same choice.
I am sorry. I would rather see my loved one finally at peace then to live out what short time they have left in pain and agony. It would be selfish to demand one stay just beacuse I can not let go.

I would have to say thats a difficult question, when I watched the movie million dollar baby I really had no problem with the mercy killing, but it is against my religion but when people are dying of ALS which is what the DR. helped commit suicide there lifes are hopeless and to the very least horrible, and that is what they want and they do still have there minds and most of their families agreed to it to, was it right, in the state of Oregon it is because its Legal. I can't call him a devil yet the only angel would be a death angel and I don't mean it in a mean way

He is not a devil, nor angel.
He assisted those people in suicide.
I don't necessarily agree with what he did, but I guess these people felt they had no hope and did not want to go through the pain and sickness just to slowly deteriorate. It was their choice, too. I am not sure if their family were supportive or not, tho.
What makes you think, it is not done by current practicing hospital physicians on an oncology or other ward?
Someone who is terminally ill, inoperable, tried all treatments - family or patient signs a dnr.
Doctor: Increase morphine drip to X# of cc/hr, and page me when they pass.
It happens frequently.

ANGEL~Because these people have sought out his assistance, to die a planned dignified death, it's labeled a suicide and he's the accomplice.
He champions a cause for terminal patients to have the ability to determine their own destiny by knowing when enough is enough.

Angel.
The dead people came to HIM to help them stop the suffering. They wanted to die when they want to, not when some dumbnutz hospital decides it's going to prolong human suffering and hope the family gets a front row seat for the morphine induced torture they endure to make them babble incoherently as their last breath is taken.

He's ahead of his time. The medical "profession" doesn't want assisted suicide when people are in pain and terminal. They'd rather empty the patient's bank account and keep billing insurance as long as possible.
