This Hurricane is the only one ever known to have gone backwards back out to sea.
It was massive in size and would have caused severe damage to many states along the east coast.
But instead of traveling along it's intended course it suddenly with no explanation went backwards back out to sea as if a hand had pushed it back.
I want to know the name of this Hurricane and any details if you have it so I can research more about it myself.
This is amazing and actually a miracle that hardly anyone is aware of.
Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to provide me with.

Hurricane Alex
Hurricane Alex was the first named storm, the first hurricane, and the first major hurricane of the 2004 Atlantic hurricane season. Alex, the first storm of the season, formed unusually late in the season, the fifth latest since 1954. It developed from the interaction between an upper-level low and a weak surface trough on July 31 to the east of Jacksonville, Florida. It moved northeastward, and strengthened to attain winds of 100 mph (160 km/h) before passing within 10 miles (16 km) of the Outer Banks coast. Alex strengthened further and reached a peak of 120 mph (190 km/h) winds while off the coast of New England, one of only two hurricanes to reach Category 3 status north of 38º N.

Hurricanes are in the Northern Hemisphere and Cyclones in the Southern. They pick a list of names each year to use. They retire names if they were a major storm, such as Katrina was in 2005.

There are alot of Hurricanes that maintain such a course. They often threaten the coast but end up getting pushed off by the Gulf Stream into the ocean. Its quite common. Not just one hurricane and certainly not a miracle.
