i have a lynksys wireless-g broadband router and a e home,2 dollar.. literally, network card. the router is all the way across my house, which is brick, and my network card is in my computer (which is built by me, if it matters) on the floor. I get a signal every now and then but a very low signal, 5.5-11.0 mbps, i want to get a better signal and speed, i bought a 10 dollar gigaware 7 dBi high-gain networking antenna kit for my router, and it didn't improve anything. Just in case you were wondering i have a 2wire 2700HG-d modem which, on the other computer, shows up as having 400Mbps. Another weird thing is if i get no signal, i can restart my computer and sometimes when it comes back on, i get a signal. I want gaming speeds. Another thing is, i took my computer and moved it into the same room and booted it up and got the full 54mbps but still had a low signal. i am looking for the most cost effective way to fix this, you can post the answer or you can im me, ill be on for a while thx
