I would look at the person's stands on the issues that are important, and judge them accordingly.

I happen to have a great amount of respect for "conservative democrats" Joe Lieberman and Zell Miller, people that have taken stands of principal, yet have not quite been able to "leave" the Democrat party that they grew up in--even though in so many ways it has already "left" them!

On the other hand, "liberal republicans" like Lincoln Chaffee, Michael Bloomberg--we call them RINO's (Republican in name only)--I really have no use for! If they are the key to Republicans winning control of a house of congress, then Republicans simply need to do a better job of putting together a true conservative message, and STICKING TO IT! True, honest, conservative messages WIN ELECTIONS--Ronald Reagan, anybody?? "A shining city on the hill", the "contract with America", these positive, upbeat, visionary ideals will WIN elections! I would rather have people that BELIEVE in the ideals, as opposed to someone that simply puts an (R) next to their name for political expediency!

That's my take, and I'm sticking to it! =)

In these days, one would rarely say a liberal Republican. But there are some. The liberal side of a Republican, say, Olympia Snowe or Arlen Specter, is liberal more on the side of social issues while still being conservative on fiscal issues. Access to abortion on one hand and tax cuts on the other.

Conservative Democrats really are like their brethren, conservative Republicans and generally vote consistently with the GOP. They may differ in some things but generally they are closely akin. Often a conservative Democrat will do one of two things: 1) evenually switch parties, or 2) continue to represent a majority of conservative Democrats who vote Democratic in local and state elections.

Neither is particularly better but do represent an interesting niche in their parties.

From what I've seen, a conservative Democrat, because lib Republicans spend our money more than anyone else.

Yeah, go ahead and thumb it down- but as a true conservative, I'd rather get rid of these smiling phonies. The last 6-8 years has seen an unbelievable growth in government, and a worthless one at that (though that's usually the case). I'm not going to have blind allegiance to someone just because they throw an "R" in front of their title.

placed it this style, Liberals have a tendency to think of of society as proper and push to do the failings that would desire to make society "suited". they desire all of us to make an identical volume of money, no person to be impoverished, and there be general healthcare. regrettably, that's no longer the case. it is an proper society. many times, Conservatives have a tendency to think of of issues a sprint extra realistically, yet do commonly bypass approximately putting forward suggestions the incorrect way. the finished gay marriage ingredient nevertheless isn't on an identical time as much as the federal government to % so it is pointless for them to argue approximately it. it is no longer defined in any element of the form for congress, the president, or the final courtroom to make any determination. merely like abortion don't have been left to the federal government and could have been skipped over, yet those are merely examples. Conservatism is extra of a you do your section, I do mine. We bypass away one yet another on my own strategies-set. Liberalism is a enable's help one yet another and each little thing is high-quality strategies-set. commonly. Regardless, think of, do no longer basically connect facets. it is uncomplicated to inform the place I lie, yet like I pronounced, facets do no longer count. Vote on themes, no longer human beings.

I would have to say a conservative Democrat. As for a reason, I guess I consider myself conservative although I wouldn't align myself with either party as I think they are all crooked in one way or another.

Neither, I think we need moderates in both parties.

Blind allegiance to and extremism in either conservative or liberal ideology is bad. In our culture (USA), we need things that tend to be more conservative with respect to commerce, taxes, governement, but more liberal when it comes to personal liberties.
