what is wrong with me wanting to sacrifice 12 months to get a nice career? guys can you explain?

Because he is a controlling jerk. He is afraid that you will have a career that is better than his.
I think he is also afraid that you will meet other men, and he is jealous and possessive.
Have you had any problems with domestic violence in your relationship with him?

Sounds like he's immature or afraid you are smarter than him.
Don't let him manipulate you and stop you from doing something productive, something that will make you feel good about yourself. There is nothing wrong with wanting to be better human beings...He obviously has a problem with this, so I think you need to evaluate your relationship and his attitude.

I second the above. Unless he had given a clear reason for doing so (and one that makes sense), it sounds like classic controlling behavior. I think it's great that you want a career. Good luck.

Very insecure man. He thinks this way because once you graduate, he will think you will leave him. He's the type that feels like a KING or HERO if you stay home and uneducated.

He might feel threatened by you getting apart. Let him know that you're doing it to grow with him not apart... you need to show that is not only about you, but about you both as humans evolving together in live.

the hubby doesn't want to lose the "control" over you, he doesn't want anyone else watching the kids. or he doesn't want to feel like less of a man because his wife is getting an education.
he is feeling threatened by it.
