I'll rephrase the question into a statement - Foreplay is an important aspect in maintaining a sexual relationship.
As others have written trust is probably the most important aspect in a relationship.
But maintaining a sexual relationship (with a satisfied woman) involves foreplay and that involves loving healthy communication during the day to sustain a connection.
Are we talking about just sex or great sex and a great relationship. Whoever wrote that blurb was making a point for the wam bam thank you mamers who don't know any different I think. Maintaining a great relationship involves effort is the point.

I read the article, a little much isn't it . Let me tell you I have been with the same man for 16 years he is 4 years older than I and it isn't really the foreplay that gets me int he mood it is a feeling of comfort. and FYI after being together for so long we find role playing is really fun. Don't take sex to seriously I think that is what is wrong with most couples . Buy some new toys for the bedroom etc. If she is to shy to do to a store with you the web is full of mail order sites. Exploring I feel is more important.

In my opinion, I'd think that foreplay would only have a little part of it (including sex). But the most important aspect of a relationship can be many other things; trust etc.
