I live in a small town, and people do that all the time. It's funny, I guess they think they know you........'course in my town odds are they actually DO know me. One time, I was on my way to work in the morning, and I pulled up to this four way at the same time this other car did. So, we're facing each other and we're both going straight. As the car passes me I notice both passengers are frantically waving at me, so I slow down a little to see if I know them.......and they were CLOWNS!! Yes, actual clowns, with makeup, red noses, blue wigs, like the whole nine yards. I started laughing and waved back, and they started laughing.....I still have no idea who they were or what they were up to. Yeah, it was definitely random ;-)

In high school, I had random people I didn't know come up and talk to me like they knew me. Scary thought... It has happened a few times outside high school but not as often. I live in small town so everybody waves at everyone whether they know you or not.

Happened to me just last night. Though it was a friend of mine at first, but the person just kept on walking and I realized it wasn't. It's always nice to wave back though.

Sure, when I lived in a small rural town it happened all the time. I miss it, it made me smile and feel good. Now, I am back home in Chicago, and even though they say it is a friendly city, it sure doesn't feel friendly. Maybe, the random people are from a small town and brought their feel good ways with them.

Sometimes I think they are but its just the person behind me... then I feel really silly for waving back.

It happens to me all the time. I guess we have friendly faces and people can tell if you are friendly or not. Enjoy it and wave back. :)
