With only 5 small fish it should not be a problem. This is another example of why you don't want to overstock a tank. As long as you don't get too many fish in the tank power outages are no problem at all. I lost power for 3 days a few years ago and didn't lose a single fish out of over 30 tanks.

What's the temp in your house? To keep fish cool you can put ice in a zip lock bag( I double my bags) and float it in the tank, also if the power stay out longer than a couple of hours I suggest doing 5-10% water changes every 6-10 hours. I have been through this before on several occations, and you should be fine as long as your power returns shortly, and you keep your tank temp as close to normal as possible!

The water cools down very gradually.

By the time the power comes back on, I don't think the water would even cool by 2°.

The fish will be fine.

You will be fine with a power outage that is only a few hours. When the power comes back on make sure that the pump is operating correctly. Sometimes the siphon is broken or the impeller doesn't start up correctly.

IF within 5 hours they should be fine. If longer then five hours, its best to get a pump that uses bateries. Although tis hard to find. ITs best to do a simple project and cut the PLug and use Wires to convert it to battery using. But its not recammended unless ur a professional,

Your pet store should have a battery operated air pump. This will give your fish a decent amount of oxygen.

they would be able to survive. if the power was out for longer you could stir the water a bit to change the water at the surface thus encouraging aeration.
