The tradition was no white after Labor Day or before Memorial Day. These days tho with a washer and dryer in nearly every home, that's no longer a "rule" Actually you can find colors like winter white in the middle of winter in materials that are clearly not summer weight. Looks like this is now a quain tradition!

Supposedly, white is only worn between the summer months, from Memorial Day in May until Labor Day in September. Generally, no one follows this "fashion law" anymore.

Memorial Day to Labor Day is the old "white period"... these days nobody seems to follow that anymore though.

I know right, I've always wondered about that. Because technically, everyday following labour day is "after labour day", including the days leading up to next year's labour day. It's so flippin confusing. Good thing I dont care for stupid rules like that, otherwise I would be screwed.

That rule originally applied to shoes -- white shoes. White shoes were considered unseasonal once the rains started.
Now, it just doesn't matter. Everything is more relaxed, and that's a good thing as well as a bad thing, I suppose.

I say that you can start wearing white when it gets nice out. So if you live in SoCal, then you can wear it much longer than say if you live in New England.
