It's absolutely normal. He won't succeed for a long while, but he is pushing with his legs to develop muscle tone. It's a normal part of development!

My son loved to stand around 3months+ Of course this was with us holding him. Around 5-6 months he was standing while holding onto things like a table or the couch. He liked doing this more then lying on his tummy or sitting he really didn't crawl until 7-8 months old. Now at 10 months he's been walking for quite sometime. I think some babies would rather stand and walk then crawl or sit.
We had some people tell us that he would be bow legged if we let him stand that young but when we talked to our dr. he told us that if he wasn't ready then he wouldn't be trying to stand like that. Bow leggedness in babies comes from being in the womb for9 months and usually straighten out once the baby starts crawling or walking.

My son is 4 months and a week and he also has very strong legs, I stand up with him and try to encourage him to walk by moving his legs one at a time.

Yes. My son can "walk" as long as we hold him up. He's had very strong legs from the time he was born. Some children just develop faster than others.

Trying to walk? Is this when you hold him up? Is he trying to do this on his own?
My son is 4 months today. When I hold him he loves to stand. I mean really pushes up on his feet. I know there is something called a stepping reflex that when their feet hit a hard surface it looks like they are taking steps. I can't recall when that disappears.
A couple nurses have told me that babies' pelvis aren't fully developed/fused? That you need to be careful he doesn't put too much pressure on his legs that can injure his pelvis. You should always support him as much as possible when standing while young.

I started walking at 5 1/2 months, so i think that it is pretty normal that he wants to walk at 4, he may not succeed for awhile though.

Yeah it's normal for them to want to stand....But he probably wont walk till at least 8 months....which is VERY rare!! If he starts walking you may want to call Guineses book of world records!!

it's absolutely normal. it's natural for them to start moving their legs as if they're trying to walk, but it'll be a while b4 that actually happens. encourage him by putting objects just out of his reach on the floor, so he can work on reaching them.
