To live makes us all stronger, every road, path or decision gives us new experience. Pain and sorrow are incredible teachers, they teach toddlers what hot means for instance.

What hasn't killed me, has usually pissed me off.
You know like near misses: being cut off in traffic. Or accidently being hit in the head.
Oh wait that isn't what you asked.
Means if you survived the most horrible thing you can think of happening, then if it happens again, you'll know how to handle it and over come it.

If you survived it then you've gained strength from whatever it was and it has made you stronger in the sense that you were able to overcome it.
