I hate being catagorized too.
It is a political catagory haveing to do with what others precieve as your level of adv ancement.
Not nessesarily your level of happyness.
Are people dieing around you due to lack of basic nessesities? then you need the lable for assistance from other countries.
Is everyone "Poor" but essentialy happy and assisting each other in daily needs and getting along? Then what is the lable to you? Forget it.
If you are a mover and shaker in the political uppity ups it matters because of the way they use each other, ballence power struggles off each other and go into debt to or ask their nation to go into debt for others.
If there was a catastrophic event and lives were endangered would your status as third world enable others to send more aid and assistance? Then you need the status.
In every day life are you unhappy? Is the average person around you unhappy? If you are essentialy happy,Then don't worry about it.
Many persons in first world countries are so unhappy the least thing causes them to blow their brains out! Most of us -yes even the super rich and powerful are only moments away from being homeless street beggers. Due to the extreem cost of liveing that is devideing the people into classes.
If you had a nervouse calaps from the extreem stress of your job and dirving in a deadly race on the freeway every day..You would be homeless in two months time. There is no safety net.
Whereas most third world countries live from season to season and have develouped ways to assist each other in comunitiy araingments.
Mainly where we see the hidiouse death marches have every thing to do with power struggles and lack of common decency. Not nessesarily lacks in the country you live in. Help one another. Be kind to all mankind and enjoy what you have.

The 'Old World', eg, Europe prior to Christopher Columbus (1492)
The 'New World', i.e., The United States of America.
The 'Third World' basically refers to the developing countries tha emerged after World War Two.

Actually, nowadays, it is politically incorrect to call a country first- or third-world. They are only developed, or developing. Hence, South Africa and Sudan would both be under "developing" and countries like America would be "developed". In this way, it eliminates any talk of first-, second-, or third-world classifications.

From what I have come to understand is the polictal and social standing in the countries...that the third world countries do not have the same opptions to be free and gain success as the second world etc...I am sure there are exceptions...everyones idea of success is different...hope it helps
