why do white people get nervous when a black person brings up race and try to act like racist doesn't exist

an example would be like if a black person told a white person that bush hates blacks(he may not hate us but he sure don't love us)
Why doesn't someone address the fact that ryan seacrest is a racist? Does it make white america nervous?

You all need to stop using the term RACIST incorrectly. In order for somebody to be racist they have to be in a position of power as well as systematically disenfranchise a group of people because they feel they are superior somehow. Last I checked blacks are not the majority and for the most part are not in a position of power to disenfranchise whites. Not to say that they wouldn't if the shoe was on the other foot but lets just get it right. I will admit to the fact the we can be PREJUDICED as all people are whether they admit it or not. Everyone has some form of prejudice whether it be minute or not.

But with having said all that I think whites get nervous because they think that they are going to have to be on the defense all the time when the subject of race comes up w a black person. Also I think its just stupid and naive to think that racism doesn't exist. Its just not as overt as it once was but its still alive and kicking. You have to be a friggin zombie if your that naive.

I haven't noticed the Ryan Seacrest thing. I'm still wondering why he is desperately trying to act like he is straight when we all know better. Someone needs to address that!!

I am white and I know there are plenty of racist around!! Some of them are in my own family. President Bush likes himself. As far as Ryan Seacrest goes please explain. There are white racist and Black racist alike. It is a shame that racism still exist in the 21st century. I never get nervous discussing Race because God knows what is in my heart.

I don't get nervous, and I am white. I acknowledge that there's a lot of discrimination out there that needs to be taken care of, and I do my best to reason against intolerance when I encounter it, but that way you word this question sounds borderline racist in itself. Maybe you aren't, but you have to acknowledge that racism isn't just white>black, but black>white, Asian>black, Hispanic>Middle Eastern, and all other combinations. To stop racism, we have to support one another's races and spread TOLERANCE, not post things criticizing other races.

Racism only seems to work one way in our society. White people can have their lives destroyed over a single comment that sounds racist (Don Imus), but people like Al Sharpton and Chris Rock get away with loud racist behavior everyday.
