Sections like 377,309 and 497 are removable now.
Homosexuality related 377 is a big hurdle in preventing HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases. One who is infected not like to go out for reasons behind.Increasing of Aids is a great danger to mankind.
Section 309 related to suicide-If some one is failed in suicide he will be prosecuted and if succeeded than no punishment from law.A unsuccessful person in suicide is facing law menace he will be punished for a crime which is not done.Other side if he is no more to face prosecution for a success full crime.
Any crime under section 497 is a matter of mutual consents between two mature persons. That is not a crime at all in changed social scenario.
Many other laws and acts are also waiting for quick removal /change.

I do not say any of the IPCs need to be removed they came into being to protect certain strata of the society and to maintian Law'n Order. But the problem is that most laws got a lot of loopeholes and flaws and the law makers do not even seem to be bothered to rectify them. I would say a few more needs to be added and some amended basically convicting if they are misused and this punishment should also include parties encouraging misuse of these laws and thereby disrespecting it- ie including the Lawyers and Judges too.

One can notice commonly that Lawyers and Judges in India - who got a huge responsibility of protecting Justice and stopping injustice are the one who encourage the vice versa - they victimise the innocent and set free the criminals.

Like what Mr. Vijay has mentioned above of 498A - incase that is slapped the accused weather guilty or innocent is imprisoned without a trial are they a bigger Criminal than those booked under TADA - the actual Terrorists? Good Eg. Sanjay Dutt and a huge lot of his clan booked under TADA are still scot free!! How about the actual Murderers and Rapists and Thugs and Extortionists are not most of them free and enjoying the luxuries of life and being respected as Ministers of the Govt of India?

Probably something is wrong with our today's Law Makers and Law Protectors!!!

Indian Dogs get better justice and Protection than the actual Human Citizens of India!!

Section 377 dealing with carnal intercourse against the order of nature i.e. anal & oral sex as these act has being practiced since time immemorial & still being done in society; homosexuality has been recognized in many countries as legal. Section 497 dealing with adultery as this is only a civil wrong between married couples should not be criminal offence at all. Section 498A dealing with husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty, this has been used for more for the sake of blackmailing & harassment of the husband & his relatives rather then for real purpose of cruelty for which it has been made. All these section should be removed from the Indian Penal Code for the time being.

It is not necessary to remove it from the IPC, but should be amended. The time of evoluation of IPC is different, and things happening around is different. So, It should be regularly updated on the basis of past experience and present situations with future considerations.*

i think indian laws are right and just. but i wish we added some laws , where poeple who break laws with power and money can be punished more severely. and mayb we should add a stop watch to the courts, so tht justice is delivered faster.
