The best way to do this :

1st times a constant to the both side of the equations so by adding them one of the unknows (either a or b) cancel out (remember that timing both side of an equation by a constant doesnt change the equation )

so: since u have :

4a+3b=19
3a-2b=10

if u multiply 4a + 3b =19 by 2 and 3a - 2b = 10 by 3 you will get :

1. 8a + 6b=38
2. 9a - 6b=30

as you can see if you add equation 1 to equation 2 the bs cancel out

equation 1 + equation 2 :

8a+9a+6b-6b=68

17a=68

so a= 4,

Now that we found a by substituting a in one of the equation b can be found :

In this case I substitute in 4a+3b=19

4 ( 4) + 3b=19

16+3b=19

3b=19-16

3b=3

b=1,

therefore a=4 and b=1
