To get an idea what a finished scrapbook page looks like, go to ebay - crafts - scrapbooking. Then use keywords "pre-made pages". That will bring up pages that people have completed for sale. The pictures aren't there, but you'll get the idea. Also, some of the best scrapbook pages have journaling on them - descriptions of the event or thoughts about what is on the page from the person making it. This can be done on the computer or written by hand - that gives it a certain charm.
Finally - always, always, always use acid-free materials, or your page will deteriorate rapidly. Check out the scrapbook aisles at your local craft store for acid-free papers.

Scrapbooking can be really fun. There are many ways to do it. Here are some of my suggestions.
1. Pick a theme. Like for example, a scrapbook of different holidays. You could make the book one holiday from different years, or you could make each page a different holiday.
2. Get creative. Don't just throw a bunch of pictures on a page. Lay them out and keep it organized. Put some stickers on the page or use stamps or stencils or other little things. But don't over do it.
Now, I can't tell you exactly how to scrapbook. Everyone has there own style. Try to find a local scrapbooking store and see if they offer any classes or look aroung for ideas. Experiment with different things and you'll come up with something.

DIY has a show on in the mornings about scrapbooking. You could go to a scrapbook store where they can "give a tour" of scrapbooking to you. They will show you what they have and will help you get started. It is fun because you do it the way you want with your interests and your personal likes. Have fun!

Scrapbooking is something you do your own way but I can tell you I have a scrapbook for my baby, and it has photos, height charts, hospital bands, and more. Include whatever you'd like, stickers, movie tickets, circus tickets, deflated birthday balloons, birthday cards, letters. I could go on all night. I get printed paper from walmart or online and I sometimes put borders on my photos at walmart also, just be creative. There is no right or wrong way. Scrapbooking is really fun. Just take some photos and combine them into a theme. From there, it's all you!

I've read the other answers, and there are lots of ideas. You can be as plain or fancy as you want. Seperate pictures by events or people or events or scenery or however you want. mine are a book for each kid, and the kids are grown...so all of the catagories are in each book. I also don't use a lot of embellishments, because there are several pictures on one page, but I love stickers and colors..so my expenses aren'tas great as some of the younger gals...but no matter how you do it...IT'S GREAT!
