The office of the President of the United States, is one of threee most powerful positions on the entire planet. Granted I enjoy a good sporting event as much as the next guy/girl, but I have always assigned income rates to the value of any job. Since the President has the highest value it should have the highest pay.

Actually from what I have heard is that all the president of the united states makes a year is about $250,000. They already have money already. Thats why they run for president because they have money already. They pay for all their funding themselves. They are already millionaires prior to being in office.

Yes, it is completely right. Just as it is when the CEO of a large corporation makes much more than the President. The President is a public servant, whereas athletes are in the private sector, where the law of supply and demand applies. If the public will pay the ticket prices and the advertisers will pay the rates which make these exhorbitant salaries possible, then so be it. Our public servants, however, should not seek riches based on their public service. We pay all classes of public servants equally--i.e., all senators make the same, as representatives, etc.--and not based on their performance. These salaries are set by Congress, and can only be changed by Congress. An athlete can make whatever the market will bear. And his value to the team plays a large part in determining his salary.

This may have been true a long time ago... Anymore presidents are just puppets. Our presidents don't even take the job seriously at all, it's like a free-for-all as far as they are concerned. Look at Clinton, he couldn't keep his pecker on lock down for 4 years. And don't get me started on Bush... The man couldn't hold back a laugh for 30 seconds if you were talking about something serious. So I would say that they make way to much. If I acted in such way at my job then I would cease to have a job, no money at all.

It's not the entertainment business - it's public service. A job like that should stem from a true passion; and monetary incentives should not be necessary. Unfortunately, the passion for power often overrides a passion for country. Still, it would be much worse if we had individuals with a passion for monetary self-interest.

No. The President gets paid from my tax money. Pro athletes ultimately get most of their money from advertisers. There is no comparison.
