I have a 5 month old son named Trysten. I loved the name when I first heard it on a movie called "Blue Hill Avenue" but now a lotta people are asking me why I named my son that because..."It's a gurl's name." They say.

I think the Y makes it more feminine. I like Tristan but would have left it at that.

Trysten is an alternate spelling of Tristan which is comes from the medieval legend of "Tristan and Iseult" or Wagner's opera based on the same tale. In all the different variations of the story, Tristan is a hero. In one version he slays a dragon so I think it's a very masculine name. I think the reason some people perceive "Trysten" as a girl's name is because it sounds like "Kristen" and also because of its spelling. I think "y" is often substituted for "i" in feminine names. However, I these perceptions could change just as easily as names like Kelly, Lindsey, and Ashleigh changed from masculine to feminine names.

I am a teacher and only have been for 3 years. I have heard at least 2 boys named Trysten, and no girls...you are not alone.

I think Trysten is a boy's name, I know a couple of boys by that name.

I don't think its a girls name. I have never heard of a girl's name Trysten... But I do know a guys named Tristan/Tristen or a guy named Treston.

yes i love it and no its not really a girls name its for either a boy or a girl b/c i have a best friend named trysten and he's a guy

My cousin named his little boy Trysten. I love that name ....I definitely think it is a boys name :)

Bull, it's not a girl name! Tristian is usually spelled that way. I love that name and my husband and I actually thought of this name in case we ever have a boy.

I thought it was a boys name and thought it was weird when I heard of a girl with that name. Who cares?!?! There are grown men named Leslie!
