Install and update.

Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free.

Firefox is only a bandage. It IS an EXCELLENT program, and should be on EVERY computer, but that is not going to stop the infestation on your comp. Whn you run those products, did you do it in safe mode? That will give you different results. If you still hav this problem, youre going to have to back up your data and OS reinstall. Youre going to need to modify your surfing habits. Antiviruses and antispyware are like the cops, yes they do prevent and the do solve, but there are more bad guys than good. I you know what youre doing, P2p can be a great tool. If you dont its the equivalent of having sex with a herion addict hooker without a condom.

You may need to switch off System Restore as back up files may be hiding in there, and it will just restore itself. Go to Start - programs - accessories - system tools - system restore. Click the link on the left, follow the instructions.
Run Ad- Aware SE and AVG anti spyware in Safe Mode. To get into Safe Mode repeatedly press the F8 key after the bios screen loads but before Windows loads. You'll know if you made it because the screen will be at 800 x 600 and your pc will be slow.

You need all these anti spyware programs;

http://www.safer-networking.org - Spybot Search and Destroy anti spyware. Use the Teatimer settings to protect Internet Explorer, and the Immuniser to stop malware getting on your pc.
Spywareblaster works with Internet Explorer and Firefox. It won't uninstall spyware that is already on your pc, but it will prevent hijacks and other malicious changes to your browser.
