ive answered this question before, so here we go:
ok, all the other answers will not solve your problem. this happened to me when a file randomly appeared on my desktop, and out of curiosity opened it. i then got the blue screen of death every time about 15 seconds into loading up windows. although it could be caused by other things, it most likely a virus/malware that changes you computers critical files (the ones that simply make it run) without these your computer will not work, so it decides to shut down for you which is a pain in the a**.
try running checkdisc.
go start>run and type chkdsk in the box.
it will scan your hard drive for errors, and attempt to fix them.
Also try loading the Vista CD that might have come with your PC wen you bought it, i think tat replaces all your critical files, without wiping your hard drive.
if that still doesnt work like mine didnt , ring your computer manufacturer, if your with Dell like me, they provide an excellent service that will take you through all the steps to sort out your system on the phone for a small cost. dont buy a new system because the fault is a software orientated, meaning it will be able to be fixed. your manufacturer will do everything to help, and when all else fails they will wipe your disc clean and you will have to start again.
you will be able to save your prized files by going into safe mode (press F8 at startup and select safe mode) you need to use a pendrive here because disc burning wont work in safe mode. likely this will take ages because it is in safe mode.
Remember, it can be sorted, you just need a hell of a lot of patience!
hope this helps/sorts your problem

This may require some trial and error to track the problem down. Do you have another graphics card you can use besides the new one? If so, put that in and see if it stops the crashing. If not, and your OS has a safe mode, boot into safe mode (make sure it is running with a standard VGA adapter) and see if you crash there.
I would also check the manufacturers website of the motherboard for any known conflicts. Sometimes they will offer driver updates, or BIOS updates that resolve these types of issues.

WHICH bsod is it. plese tell us, it will help us to help you. The bsod is your friend it tells you what type error and what ap caused thee crash. 8800 are very good cards but have alot of issues with power. Also if youre crashing that often, you might have bad software. might be another device (think sound card) on the system or you might be driving your card too hard. Gaming is a trade off between 3d/ anti aliasing/ screen resolution and frame rate. If you crank one up, the others have to give. The 8800 should have recommended settings for most games. If youve added a physics processor and youre using vista, MOST are not compliant and are known to cause bsod too.

Usually errors like that are software related.
If you have onboard video you might try taking the card out and see if the problem goes away.
Make sure your vid card drivers are updated.
I would press ctrl+al+del and bring up the task manager - go to processes, and see what all is running, make a list and search for each item online and find out if and how to remove it.
That will fix about 75% of computer problems - just junk running in the background unnecessarily.

Those specs are nothing conflicting, but, you might wanna check the D/C output of the power supply, if you dont have enough power you can crash alot and even fry the motherboard.

have you ever made any modifications on your device these days? if so attempting reversing them like a restoration or uninstalling contemporary stuff like drivers or purposes. this is going to likely be complicated to locate the criminal without greater advice. From my journey nevertheless, the final public of bsods come from reminiscence subject concerns or driving force subject concerns. If removing contemporary modifications did no longer artwork, attempt updating all your drivers truly.

Dude, there could be a million things causing it. You need to provide details on the error message and when it happens.
