Promoting unification in Iraq hasn't exactly been going well.

Leaving the Middle East fragmented would at least be easier.

It is in the interest of the multi-national corporate entities trying to secure the oil in the Middle East to keep the governments of each country fragmented and at odds with each other. There will never be unity in this region because too many indivuals are enmeshed in the endless cycle of arguements concerning religious and cultural differences. As long as they continue to focus on their differences there will be no unity, no matter how much outsiders try to force it on them or deprive it from them.

Probably but the Middle East becoming unified isn't likely anyway. There has been some kind of war going on in the Middle East forever. I doubt it will change in our lifetime. I think the US is more interested in protecting itself from Nations in the region that are a threat.

Its in the best interest of all that the violence in the middle east end. Violence and conflict does nothing be instigate more violence and destablizes other regions and then draws them into the conflict. Unification of the middle east I think is next to impossible..to many people, to many blood fueds and too much anger.

In my humble opinion, the present situation should be sufficient to demonstrate that interferrence has not been a great benefic.

Fragmentation of any sort never does any good.

It might have been best to leave the Middle East to the Middle Easterns.

It's on the best interest of the USA to promote peace in the region, but from a distance. You can't force peace down someones throat and expect them to like it.
