I just got my first period after having my baby 5 weeks ago. I want to know if it is normal that it is dark red. Its also a really heavy flow. Is that normal too?

It is very normal. You should call your OB/GYN to make sure.
I went threw the same thing with both of my children!

Yes, your first period after having a baby can be 'heavier than normal' and if it is 'dark red' blood, that's also 'good' ... but if the bleeding get so bad that you much 'change pads or tampons' every two hours, or if the 'dark red' gets lighter in color, go straight to the emergency room and tell them that you 'need to be examined' and may be having 'problems' after having your baby.

yes that can happen and would be considered normal if it does happen, it is less likely if you are still lactating, but every woman and their hormones act differently...

mine was the same...but oddly only lasted 2 days.

ur fine.. ur placenta is still coming out.. sometimes the doctor doesnt get out everything.. If it gets unbearable.. go to the doctor soon
