Piplup-good starter, I never had it lose when I used it. Excellent throughout the game.
Chimchar-he's good, his final evolution is a fighting and fire combo, great to use.
Turtwig-good, might be a better choice in the game at times during trainer and gym battles.
Overall-They all tie eachother pretty much.

I made it through the game in 2 days with Empoleon. You should choose him because he is effective against Fire, Bug, Grass, Ground, and more. You should get him to have Hydro Pump (give it PP UP so it gets to 7 or 8) Drill Peck (so it has flying and that makes it effective against grass and bug) Bubblebeam (its a water-type move with alot of pp) and Brine (it does double damage when pokemon get to orange health or lower so it helps you out of tight situations).

chimchar there are more pokemon in the game that are weak against its attacks than the other starters and it is the best to use against the eliet four.
