Like seat belt laws or the unattended vehicle laws, that is leaving a car running when no one is in it on public property, or the countless other laws that make you think why did they need to make a law for this.

Sounds like you do not care for a socialist nanny state.

But...seat belt laws on the public rights of way, or unattended vehicle laws on public (or private) property. These actually make sense. Both relate to public safety (e.g. domestic tranquility).

Yes and no. A lot of laws, and a lot of legal disclaimers, actually have some dumb story behind them where someone was not logical enough to make a correct decision on their own, and therefore a law was born. On the other hand, I think some laws are ways for our government to gain more control, and for certain campaign contributors to make more money. Depending on the law, there are many reasons behind why they are passed. But to answer your question, yes, some of them are.

Most stupid laws are liberal,or moneygrabbing laws. Just more ways of saying that we in goverment know whats best for you.Or lets make this law to increase revenus. That way we can pay for all the nonsense this country spends OUR TAX DOLLERS on. In reality though. Think about it? If all these politicians didnt come up with some of these newand sometimes repeat laws. Would we really need them?

Yes, half of the laws are created because peope are too dumb and the government feels a need to try and keep people from trying to blame someone or something else for their abject stupidity...the other half are created to control what you think and do. A small number are actually good to have ... like not killing peeple or stealing, etc.

Actually all laws are made so someone can be penalized for doing something. You shouldn't kill someone. You shouldn't take your neighbors car without permission. But without a law against it you can't do anything to them legally.

But there are still dumb laws on the books!

Example:
Read the instructions on each and every bottle of product you use... like shampoo... conditioner... deodorant... even pre-packaged foods, etc.

The instructions are so detailed because of people who complained or sued claiming they "didn't know" how to use the product due to lack of instruction.

In college - I met a girl who would open a metal can and put the can - food still inside - into a microwave to cook the food!

She also would cook in the can on the stove top!

She said "This is how my mom always did it!"

Yes, many laws exist because of our never ending cumulative stupidity.

Peace.

Laws like these are created because the elites believe we are too stupid to take care of ourselves. The problem is Americans are so ignorant about what goes on that they allow this garbage to go on.

I think that half the laws are created because people are too apathetic to challenge legislators who believe that they are too stupid (dumb is not the correct term here by the way). If we would not tolerate these totalitarian laws being forced down our throats then we wouldn't have them.

No...

Its closer to 99% of laws are there because of idiots.

Without stupid people we would only need the 5 basic rules of civilization.

Don't Murder.
Don't steal.
Don't screw around on your spouse.
Don't even think of being envious of what someone else owns. You want it too?... EARN IT..

And... the anti-politician rule:

DON'T LIE.

Most of the laws of the type that you pointed out were lobbied for by the insurance industry.
