I think you can drop out after you're 16. But an education is for your own good. So you can get a decent job, so you can understand current issues, so you can be an educated voter. It's in your best interests and the countries' that you have a complete education. Plus, other countries don't give students the summer off, so they usually know a lot more than US students after going to school for 10 full years (instead of 9 months a year for 12 years).

They don't. You can legally quit school when you are 16, but you're also entitled to continue your education until you are 18. It's actually a good thing, and you should feel lucky that the country you live in allows you to go to school for another 2 years for free.

Because that is the average age of a senior when they graduate from high school!
If a student graduates at an earlier age - then by law, they do NOT have to be in school until they are 18!

because that is when people become legal adults, and they have the right to make their on decisions. But if your legal gaurdian and you agree that you dont want to continue with school you can always take the test to get out.
