nope...but thats one big orgy...all those smurfs and just one ladie smurf

I don't know about that. All I know is that Hanna-Barbara stole the idea form a mental patient. Some guy in a padded room that kept rambling about little blue things caled smurfs.

Actually it was quite the opposite. When female smurfs were introduced and they interacted with male smurfs, several fundamentalist Christian sects denounced them for leading children into sin.

Actually they are based on a cult practice. The original origins are based on a cult practices. HOWEVER, throughout the animated show and new movies they are far from teaching cult.
This is similar to where halloween came from.

I don't think they were associated with a cult, but there were some funny things going on with them. Smurfette used to be male and Gargamel turned him int a female ( idk why) and there were rumours of drug use among them little blue ones, but I watched them as a kid and never saw any of that.
On a side note, my sister-in-law thinks they are demons and is terrified of them. hilarious!
