My son is 10 months old. Lately he seems to be "forgetting" things he used to do. Like he used to always wave bye bye to people leaving but now he won't do it anymore just on rare occasions. Also he is in a Baby Signs class and he used to do about 5 or so signs. He won't really do those anymore either although he does do new ones that he learns. He used to give kisses when you would hug him too. He still does something all the time though like if you ask him to find things. IE: "where's mommy or daddy?" he'll go up to us and he knows how to find the dogs, cat, fan, light and other things. But that is the only thing he continually "remembers" He is learning because he does do new things everyday, it's just hard to get him to do anything he used to do.

He probably hasn't really forgotten these things, he is just so busy learning new things that he doesn't have time for them right now. At this age babies focus very hard on the things they are currently learning, and almost completely leave behind things they have already learned.

Don't worry! This is completely normal. He's just a busy guy in a big world with a whole lot to learn about.

My son was biting me a lot around that age. A true time out is too much at this age. However, what worked for me was mini-time outs. I would just pick him up and set him back down a few feet away and scold him. He would get all upset and cry, but the biting eventually stopped! Just removing them from the situation and a quick "No biting" or in your case "No hitting" will be enough to get the point across at that age.

This sounds normal. He is bored with the old things and too interested in the new things. Now, if he started crawling and cant crawl anymore, or started walking or climbing (Physical things) and cant do that anymore then you have a problem.

In 10 months so many new learning experiences have been coming at your son it's not surprising that he would forget or put to the side things he's already learned to learn something new.

If it really bothers you talk to his pediatrician.....but this behavior is perfectly normal at his age.

his brain is processing a lot of stuff know and yes he is learning new stuff but he did not forget about the other stuff if he was not picking up anything new then i would not worry. try to make the old stuff interesting that he will want to do it again.

I have a 3 year old and she went through all of that. So, it's all a phase that every child goes through.

Often, once a baby has conquered a new skill and mastered it they will stop practicing it. That allows them to put more energy into not-yet-mastered skills.
