Because they thought they didn't need to pay attention in science class. Otherwise they'd realize the simple fact that NOTHING we observe in biology makes any sense without the framework of evolution to explain it all.

The fact that there are so many unintelligent people actually supports Intelligent Design. If Darwinian evolution were true all of the idiots would have been weeded out along the way.

Intelligence is relative and there are many types of intelligence. A Nobel Prize winner may have a giant brain capacity, yet have next to no emotional intelligence.
Look at how the village fool is usually portrayed - happy, thick as a brick, yet harmless to all and usually kind hearted - Emotional Intelligence in spades.

I would rather be the latter example than the former, hands down.

Can we begin to imagine the intellectual capacity of an entity which could create a Universe apparently employing nothing other than "his" mind?? In my opinion, it is easier to envision the Cosmos having erupted spontaneously from a naked singularity! However, either possibility raises, in my consciousness, the unanswerable questions of how and why? In his scholarly reference, "The Secret Teachings of All Ages", Manley P. Hall cites the axiom: "Primal Cause is unknowable", which I tend to think may be true or, at least, that creative methods are beyond our human comprehension. As to why "God" designed so many unintelligent people if he himself possessed intelligence great enough to imagine and incite Creation, good question! However, we Earthlings have become sufficiently evolved to be able to annihilate ourselves, so perhaps we are smart enough in the higher I.Q. ranges. The masses, though, who are easily led, lack introspection, and disdain education, can be attributed to the "Designer's" biblical desire for their obeisance, for reasons known only to him. Perhaps it was that original problem with the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil and that there is some cosmic mystery which he wishes us never to learn!

They're called Christian Fundamentallists these days (aka Mid-Western Americans). They deny the evidence of observation-based science in favour of literal belief in the Bible, despite knowing that it was written over hundreds of years and is now known to be mis-translated in rather a lot of places.

They're the modern equivalent of the mediaeval Roman Catholics who preached Heresy at any questioning of their dogma and imprisioned great thinkers like DaVinci. These people denied that the Earth is round despite the evidence of their own eyes and the testimony of mariners. They banned the telescope because it threatened their dogma (and Control). They introduced the Inquisition to enforce conformity.

These people are about the same as muslim suicide bombers really. Blind to reality and ulitmatley 'selfish' in a very real sense (thinking of themselves before others).

The Unintelligent people are not those who preach "intelligent design" or "suicide bombing"; the Unintelligent people are those who uncritically Believe Them.

Mis-use of our minds and bodies is responsible. The "Intelligent Designer" left instructions for the proper use of His creation. You can wreck some modern, very sohisticated, equipment by not reading the instructions carefully - I know!!

(This question produced the usual crop of smart-**** answers - I believe the questioner really looked for a serious answer to an amusing proposition.)

Because "intelligent" people would rather base beliefs on facts and evidence rather than an old book. I like how this was asked in "Mythology and Folklore" If you believe Intelligent Design is myth or folklore then wouldn't that make you unintelligent?

I believe that proponents of this theory are refering to the intelligence of the Designer, not to the designed-- which itself raises questions about the intelligence of the Designer and the theory.

I feel that it is because the human race, being the smartest of all species has eliminated Darwin's theory of Natural Selection. I feel that since we have no natural predators, the stupid people are allowed to breed, and create stupid babies. Where in normal circumstances these people would not be able to survive leaving only the most astute to reproduce.

Dear Crackhead,

it takes a very intelligent design to make beings, seeing whom, u feel they are less intelligent.

the creation and maintain such difference in nature is itself a very intelligent task.

and, why there are less intelligent people ?

because they opted to be less intelligent, may be to fulfill some of there desires, which they would have not fulfilled, if they were more intelligent.

( please note i do not use term "people", and use "beings" instead, because this is true in all places of manifested creation .)
