I´ve also asked this question to those around me, who are very tidy people. Here´s what they suggest :

The most important rooms to keep tidy are the kitchen, living room and bathroom. For one thing, these are the rooms you use the most during the day and the ones that HAVE to be clean. For another thing, if you get visitors, even unexpected, these are the areas they will see.

I´ve made a cleaning schedule - Mondays & Tuesdays laundry, Wed. kitchen floor etc. Figure out what can work for you in your situation, but don´t overdo it. Make sure that the basics get done, but keep the focus on your baby, not your house. He/she deserves more of your time - and there will plenty of time to clean later when she is older. Enjoy these years with her.
Good luck!!

I would set a schedule of what to clean every day. If you try the spotless house, you might find this hard to do when your child is older. What I used to do when my girls were younger was an upstairs/downstairs routine. One day I would do the upstairs completely. We have three bedrooms and the bathroom. So that was organizing toys running the vaccum. On downstairs day I would clean the living room, dining room and back room-this I guess was a parlor but we use it as a keep all, kitchen. The kitchen was the hardest to do-since we have the laundry in there too and it does get cluttered. I usually mop once a week. Then once a week I would organize the porch and attic. Mostly things get stored on the porch and I would put the items in the right places. The attic had been packed with a lot of junk since my husband came from a pack rat family. I go through this stuff and get rid of a box or two a week.

Well in my case the first thing I do is kick the wife up the backside......lol

1. With a small child that probably spends most of it's time on the floor, carpets and flooring are a must do, kitchen floor especially as bits may be dropped and then trod into other rooms.
2.Eating areas and food preparation areas next.
3.Toilet and bathroom.
4.Bedrooms

5.Then finish off with general dusting.

As the child grows and walks nearly all the time the flooring can take third place and 2+3 move to 1+2.

Well most of us like to keep home nice and clean, BUT, when we have small children it´s not always easy. Bathroom every day, or even at nigh before you go to bed , less to do next morning, as with the washing machine , put your machine on before you go to bed, like this your clothes are ready to hang out first thing. Kitchen 2 times a day , just depend´s how much time you spend in the kitchen. top´s wiped down, floor swept and mopped.. The dusting , I do every 2 day´s, I found these little dusters that stops the dust from settling back so quick . They are called SPONTEX cut´s your cleaning time by half.

When you clean always check to make sure that you don't have mold anywhere in the house because your baby is probably on the floor a lot and they breathe it in more than you. I'm just saying this because I know someone that had mold in their carpet and didn't know it and their child get really sick. If you think you may have mold or if you just want to be safe you can go to www.moldrx4u.com and they have a product called Thieves and it is the best mold killer I've ever used. When I use it mold never comes back in those spots. I just thought I'd let you know in case you were interested.

THE DISHES ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT TO KEEPING THE HOUSE CLEAN, BUT WHAT I WOULD SUGGEST YOU DO, SINCE YOU HAVE A BABY AND ALL, IS JUST MAKE SURE THAT YOU EITHER MOP EVERY OTHER DAY, AND TRY TO VACUUM ON A DAILY, BECOUSE THE BABY CRAWLS AROUND ALOT, AND OF COURSE THIS IS IMPORTANT FOR THE SAFETY OF THE BABY, DO THE LAUNDRY LIKE ONCE A WEEK ON A SUNDAY OR SOMETHING, AND THE BATHROOMS ALSO ONCE A WEEK, AND DURING THE WEEK, JUST MAKE SURE TO PICK UP AFTER YOURSELF AS YOU GO,, THEN DUST AS YOU NEED TO LIKE MAYBE ONCE A WEEK OR SO... JUST WHATEVER THE MESS CALLS FOR... THIS SHOULD GIVE YOU A LITTLE BREAK AS THE WEEK PROGRESSES.... UNFORTUNATLEY HOUSEWORK IS NEVER DONE......

I make sure the bathrooms are cleaned tubs sinks toilets floors. Trash is taken out, floors are vacuumed (including rugs) and laundry. I make our beds I usually change sheets and stuff once a week. I have a dog and he likes to lay on the couch so I vacuum the couches to keep the dog hair away as much as i can. I think that's about it.

If only one thing gets done, i'd say the floor for sure! A clean floor makes everything less noticable.
i also wipe my kichen counters daily and keep a cleanser and scrub brush near all toilets. this way, if you notice they need to be refreshed, a quick once over will do
