It might be the best syatem to go for in the NBA and the NFL to change to a lottery system that would be advantagous to all the participants on an equitable basis. My proposal is brief. Those teams who do not qualify for the post season will receive the first picks in the draft ranging from 1-20 in the NFL and 1- 16 in the NBA. The reason why I am against going by worst record going first is not the team doesn't deserve an early pick but for integrity's sake there would be less likely that teams will fold up their tents and get the automatic first pick but the pick eould not be automatic but would won by the luck of the draw.It would be based on a percentage based on your closing record but also fairly drawn up so to give the 20th or 16th pick a decent opportunity to win the first pick.

This is a rough question.
If it went straight by record it would be very easy for teams to tank. The NBA draft is usually so small in talent, that really only 6-10 players make any sort of impact in their careers per draft. This sort of negates getting 'an extra pick' because a lot of the time those players amount to wasted money. Sure there's second round wonders, but so few that it's not something you can bank on...which is what a bottom feeder team needs: something it CAN bank on.
When it's said and done, when you have a team SOOOO bad that it deserves that first pick....and doesn't get it. It's a travesty of justice.
That being said, I think there are too many teams in the lottery. It's possible for a near playoff team to get the first pick. It's very slim, but possible.
In fact wasn't Portland only a 5% chance? 1 in 20?
Don't get me wrong...congrats to Portland. They won fair n square. But I do believe there were teams worse off that needed those picks.
Maybe the randomness factor is truly a good thing. Parity in the NFL is almost too much.
I'm not sure which is better, but I'll tell you one thing: Being from Cleveland and having such a bad team for sooo long, if Cleveland didn't get the first pick to pick their local boy LB23 I'm not sure the Cleveland franchise would still be here... seriously.

I don't think the Draft Lottery is right. The team with the worst record should get the first pick. The NFL has it right.

if you think about it, it makes alot of sense. In the NFL, if a team starts out bad, they won't try any more so they can automatically get the first pick. In the NBA they want to make sure if you blow the season, it isn't for sure you will have first pick. Thye take the 13 worst teams (record wise) and draw for it.

People cry about teams tanking for better lottery position, but then they try to get rid of the lottery, which is stupid. Without the lottery, teams out of the playoff hunt would tank like none other. The system they have now is fine, people just want to ***** because Greg Oden isn't going to Boston.

As a person living in Portland, I am thrilled with the draft! however, obviously there are flaws.. but they can't take back our #1 pick now!!!! Bring on Oden, and watch the Blazers bring the reign.

i've got confidence that truthfully everyone has "undesirable techniques" each and every so often. Jer_17:9 the middle is deceitful certainly issues, and desperately depraved: who can comprehend it? i could say that what quite determines who you're is the way you react on your "undesirable techniques". truthfully everyone gets harm, or indignant at cases. it somewhat is organic. yet do you reside on your anger? Do you nurse a grudge? Do you lie on your mattress at night and plot revenge? truthfully everyone feels lust for somebody as properly our spouse...we could be mendacity if we are saying that a husband in no way lots as seems at yet another woman, or a spouse in no way notices yet another guy. The sexcontinual is an element of our human nature. it somewhat is whilst the look turns into something better than a speedy look that hassle starts. Do you finally end up lingering in places you comprehend the article of your desire is probably to prevalent? Do you stare upon this individual longingly? Do you detect your conversations drifting into the flirt zone? in the previous too long, you would be plotting to fulfill them, to get closer to them...a romance starts... you spot, this is no longer the "undesirable techniques" that quite make certain who you're. You on occasion have undesirable techniques...this in ordinary terms proves which you're as human because of the fact something human beings. it somewhat is the way you react on your undesirable techniques that quite determines who you're.

the lottery is the best system out right now. if the worst team got the #1 pick, teams would just lose on purpose. the lottery prevents that as we saw with the celtics. we dont want to reward teams for losing on purpose.
