To all who said I should volunteer, I don't support the war so I will not volunteer. Try answering the question instead of offering excuses.

I also oppose the war, but I'd like to comment on how so many of those responding to this are avoiding the question and trying to turn the tables.
This question is addressing war supporters.
I bet I can guess why they are dancing around the question.
Because although they are Pro-war, they will not volunteer themselves. They want everyone else to.
For the record-one who opposes the war opposes ANYONE getting involved in the war, not just ourselves.
So why even bother asking why we don't volunteer?
Just answer the question.

This is kind of silly on the face of it. Its like asking everyone that supports a political party to run for office. This type of garbage is always used by the anti-war, anti-American, pro every-one-else crowd to try to discredit support for our fight against out of control militants and terrorists. Or as Rosie would say "terrorists are moms and dads too." Barf Barf. I have been to war against insurgents that willingly with malice aforethought killed innocents routinely and it is not a pretty sight. Everything for you people is all easy and in nice pretty packages or so it seems. Real life eludes you because you actually don't have a clue what this is all about except the drivel that is spoonfed to you by the left side of the aisle. If we just thrown up our hands and walk away, that would be fine with you despite the fact it would cost the lives of millions of others in the process-just like in Nam. Of course you all don't want to talk about that-another inconvenient truth that you bury with all the other mistakes in judgment the left makes on a daily basis. You actually believe the enemy has no say in any of this and the U.S. controls all. Seems to me thats the type of political arrogance the left rails about constantly. Unintended consequences. Remember those. I'm sure the Vietnamese, Cambodians, and Laotians do. 3 million dead people worth. Now we want to repeat that debacle all over again on a far larger scale once we fled the field???? I don't think so. Your the side with no conscience.

Those who love the war in Iraq won't go, but they'll make a thousand excuses and call you every manner of horrible things for suggesting that they go.

Bush's Sheep hate your suggestion, for it demands that they cash a check with their azzes that their mouths already wrote. It also means that you disagree with Chimpy McFlightsuit, and they can't tolerate dissent from the party line.

On the other hand, Thomas Jefferson wrote, "Dissent is the highest form of patriotism."

This is a disingenuous argument. Obviously, there are many other ways to support the war other than joining the military (like speaking up on forums like these). Also, there are many people who would join if they could, but because of mitigating factors (age, physical inability, etc) they cannot. The point is this: It is not necessary to join the military in order to support a war, any more than it is necessary to join the opposition not to support the war.

Incidentally, I served in the Navy during Desert Storm.

So you are against our soldiers being over there, BUT you are FOR us who support the war to go over? THEN WHY DON'T YOU JUST SUPPORT THEM BEING OVER THERE??? most the soldiers over there now support the war, So there more people doing just what you asked then NOT. Why don't you do something useful with your life rather than put your nose where it doesn't belong. You aren't over there fighting in this war, And you don't support it. GOD BLESS AMERICA for giving each one of us the freedom to choose weather we want to join our Military or not.

Just for $hit's and Giggles, what do you support? What are you passionate about? And don't say bringing our troops home, because that's their passion, that's what they choose to do. Use something that you have passion for that you also participate in.

Isn't it time for the conservative practiced answer ......"It's a volunteer army you know."...totally ignoring the Republican created economic factors that filter the poor into the armed services....the Republican creation of an America without a middle class...a nation of rich and poor...a nation without any hope or opportunity for so, so many.

The conservative liars/war mongers will also hope that their "it's a volunteer army" blather will deflect from the fact that they haven't answered your question

If the Bush daughters believe so much in daddy's war...why aren't they in Iraq backing up their beliefs...the beliefs they share with W. & Laura

or

Do the Bush twins and 99% of the children of the Congressional war supporters not believe in their parent's war

or again

Is it simply....... rich man's war - poor man's fight
and conservatives don't like to be so open about the class warfare they've waged in America since 1980

They'd like to stay in power and saying "Your children are expendable, ours aren't" is not a platform from which to gain popular support

So instead Republicans, being the dishonest creatures they are will come back with "It's a volunteer army you know."

The two have nothing to do with one another. This is like saying because you are a socialist, you have to work for the government. This is also like saying that you are a socialist and you will not work in the private sector.

Did you know that there is an age limit so many are restricted by that. If additional contractor positions would open up (assisting in developing governmental services) I would go tomorrow, but most contracts are being completed now as planned. I had to friends who took this route but are safely back now. There is no doubt that if I was young enough I would go based on what my friends who did go told me about the needs of Iraq and the evils of Saddam and the Bathists.

Many have. I served. I believe evil exists and it needs to be fought. My Daughter and my son will fight for your right to be a coward too. Any more snide questions?

By far most of the soldiers over there fighting DO SUPPORT THE WAR. You should try this.... Why not go to the airport and speak to the soldiers coming back. I have. I can absolutely tell you that the vast majority are happy serving there and support the President. In fact they see the media and most of the democrats as people siding with the enemy.
