There is one called, "She's having a baby and I am having a breakdown!"... my husband found it helpful and funny...

Here is the link for it at Barnes and Noble... all the best with the pregnancy and the baby... in the end (even with the cranky wife, cranky baby, sleepless nights, drool, puke and other wonderful bodily functions) it is the most delightful thing that can happen to you! Blessings!

Ill make it easier on you - just watch Notes From the Underbelly - its on abc, and a new comedy on a couple thru the pregnancy, can probably download it. The husband makes a few mistakes, this will tip you in on what to avoid.

Also the "girlfriends guide to pregnancy" is a book thats out there too. Theres a few for dads - but Id stick with the show. The woman you refer to above, might enjoy the show too.

You might want to look into something a little heavier than the generic "offer to rub her feet" (oddly common for-men pregnancy advice; I don't want somebody messing with my swollen feet, though) if you have the inclination. What "advice" I've seen for guys has been pretty damn fluffy.

I'd suggest getting a copy of "The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth," reading carefully, and being a participant in the process rather than a bystander. http://www.hencigoer.com/betterbirth/

And, read some lists of things to ask prospective birth attendants, and get ready to ask 'What's your c-section rate? Why?' and the like. Some lists: http://www.socalbirth.org/resource/question.htm

All that said, my other half is a fan of "Babies and Other Hazards of Sex," by Dave Barry...

Theres a great book for both men and women called "What To Expect When You're Expecting" by Heidi Murkoff, Arlene Eisenberg and Sandee Hathaway.

The whole book gives information right through her pregnancy, and gives advice which is good for men and women as well as an enitre section for men in the back which even covers how to deliver the baby if help doesn't arrive fast enough!
Its been approved by medical experts and has been brilliant for my other half!

I had the book "What to expect when you are expecting" and it had a section in there for fathers too. I would also check around on parenting websites, they usually ahve things tailored to the father and then some to the mother. Good luck and Congratulations!
Oh and you could always ask her OB doctor for any helpful info they can refer you to. :)

The Bradley MEthod of Husband-Coached Childbirth is hugely FULL of ways a man can help, it is also helpful (my DH said) in helping a man understand some of his feelings of protectiveness, etc. It's helpful in preparing to be a father, while supporting your wife.

http://www.bradleybirth.com and I think you can get just the book on Amazon.
