Do/did/will aliens exist?
I think that somewhere along the line they do, did, or will.
Will we ever discover them? That's a question of hope for me. I doubt during my lifetime, but will future generations be around to get that first signal?
If you consider what our civilization is doing, we have started in the past few years with the SETI program searching for signals from distant stars, hoping that another society develops a radio technology parallel to our own. But what kind of signals are they seeking?
Imagine if a government agency increased the budget for SETI a thousand-fold, and started broadcasting a powerful signal out into space in all directions, to tell other races we are here.
That is the signal that our SETI program is currently looking for. On the other hand, what kind of signal are we sending?
So far, most of our signals have been intended for a local audience. We have put satellites out there, and we are still barely in contact with Voyager missions and such which are out at the edge of the solar system.
Our radio signals from the time radio was first invented is a fifty to sixty light year thick sphere of electromagnetic signals. If we somehow perish as a race, that sphere will become a shell, expanding out forever through the universe; barely detectable.
When alien species first discover our signals, they will have no idea whether we are still here or not. They will pick up our images of war and death, and will wonder and hope that we have not done ourselves in.
They will send back a signal to us, and if we are still here when it arrives, then we will have achieved something truly profound, and we will have beaten tremendous odds against us.
It is a worthy goal.

Here is a list of definitions for the word Alien.
1. a creature from outer space; extraterrestrial.
–adjective .
2. belonging or relating to aliens: alien property.
3.. unlike one's own; strange; not belonging to one: animals alien to man. .
4. adverse; hostile; opposed (usually fol. by to or from): ideas alien to modern thinking
Those were from the the site dictionary.com
Research is an exciting endeavor and teachers usually like a bright mind that can consider alternatives. Definition number three ..."Unlike one's own" That means not human like when comparing to us.....we....the ****-sapiens. I have often thought that insects, unlike us in a million ways, are aliens from outer space. So, in a strict sense, the aliens are already here...........the insects. Until unproven, the idea is valid. You can write this in your paper. A good teacher would congratulate you for your imaginative idea. As to the real meaning and intent of your question, there is no irrefutable proof that aliens are among us. Have fun with your report. To find a site for more research go on Google and type "Aliens."

I believe so. How could we possibly believe that out of all the planets out there were the only one inhibited. What makes us so special? The thing is, if there are aliens out there only some Government Agency would know, and for some reason think we are better off not knowing. Just a thought

Yes, there's much proof of it, too.
Go to www.wold-mysteries.com , and don't worry. It's a good reference. It's not some wacko site about Roswell.
It has tons of evidence of many things people just don't know. Such as Atlantis, the Pyramids, etc. It is all documented proof of research and exploration by known names.
As for "aliens" you can look under the pyramids, atlantis, mars, the coral castle, polar tilt, etc. Many many references.
Have fun!

Shhhhhhhh! Stop asking.
Seriously. It's possible, maybe even probable, but we have absolutely no proof what-so-ever.
But here is a question to play with: I am assuming you ask after technologically advanced aliens, but suppose there is life on other planets, who's to say they are any more advanced than we are? The universe is only so old, why should they be any more advanced than us? We have no reason to assume they would be.

We are not alone, and if anyone actually thinks otherwise, they no nothing about science and are closed minded. This planet is not unique because originally, everything came from the same matter anyway. Not only do I feel life exists elsewhere, it probably flurishes in many places in many different ways. I wish I would be alive to see everything they find eventually.

To life outside the earth WE would be the aliens...the fact is that if there is life here, then it is safe to assume that the physical laws in the universe are favorable towards life developing...with all the billions of stars there's a chance that it is elsewhere too...
