I think it's extremely unhealthy for the baby. Being a pregnant drug addict myself, ( but sober for 2 1/2 years) I had to take A LOT of drug awareness programs. Drugs that are smoked are obviously harmful, because whether it's intentional or not, the expectant mother is in fact inhaling the second hand smoke, which is just as bad as if she was smoking it herself. And other drugs, such as meth, and coke, are transferred simply by touch. When you sweat, these drugs come out of your pores. If you are touching someone else, that drug is then being transferred into their system. I would tell your friend that it is not okay, and that for the baby's sake, she should find another place to be.

Over 50% of children who live in the same house as a meth user test positive for the substance. They're not using the drug, so obviously the do still get contaminated from it even when not using.
Second hand smoke: The smoke that the smoker inhales goes through a filter, but smoke released into the air from the tip of a burning cigarette doesn't go through a filter before being breathed by other people--making that smoke potentially more dangerous (though inhaled in lower concentrations due to disbursement in the air).
Contact high--it happens.
Not to mention the personal harm that could come from a drug user getting high, turning paranoid, and attacking her.

Never mind that she's exposing herself to a potentially VERY dangerous situation (people who do hard drugs (I'm not talking occasional use of weed here), are likely to carry weapons, fight, get arrested, etc.), but depending on the drugs of choice, she could be exposing the baby to a lot of harmful chemicals. If ANYTHING is being burned, smoked or inhaled, tell her to get the hell out of there.
I have a hard time believing that a pregnant woman would need her friends' advice to stay away from that sort of situation. I feel sorry for her child if she's that foolish.

Well, i think it would depend on what kind of drugs. But have her talk to the doctor. I can't see how second hand smoke is very harmful to pregnant women and being in a room where people are constantly doing drugs isn't. Also, it would probably play a big part in how she is doing otherwise - the healthy eating, exercise, etc.

It is not ok...so what if she isn't doing them. That is not an environment for a child and she needs to break the ties with these people who are doing this stuff. I would NEVER allow anyone to do drugs around my child or even HAVE drugs around my child.

Your friend is being very, very foolish.
Her lifestyle is destructive, not only to herself, but to her baby, and her loved ones.
Drugs are so incredibly evil. I know of many friends who destroyed fruitful lives, careers and families just for the temporary high of drugs. And even after that, the drugs wasted their bodies and eventually killed them.

If she's hanging around people doing and/or selling illegal drugs, it sure would be awful if they were raided and she was arrested.
