Everyone is different. She may still be pregant but the hormone that is used to detect pregnancy may not be high enough yet. I would go see a doctor if she is still worried about it, or you can always wait it out and take another test.

If you want to know if she's pregnant, you'll only know for sure when they do bloodwork.

If you want to know what could be causing the missed period other than pregnancy..
Stressful situations can often make it late, and even a whole missed period can occur if the situation is stressful enough. If her period is often late or irregular, have her check it out at her obgyn. They'll probably test her hormone levels and insulin levels and her thyroid gland to see if there are any deficiencies anywhere else. These can sometimes cause complications with the menstrual cycle, and cause pcos or other similar problems.

Oh, and why are you, not she, asking the question?

Delayed period could be due to several things besides pregnancy. Stress is often to blame. Also, anovulation (the ovary doesn't release an egg) is another common cause. She may have a corpus luteum cyst. You didn't say how old she is but when girls are young it is common for periods to be irregular. The odds are that she isn't pregnancy and she probably just didn't ovulate or ovulated late this cycle. Wait a week, test again, if neg. don't worry about it, her period will probably come next month.

4 days late is nothing. Periods can be delayed by a number of things. Now more than 12 days late, you have a problem.

False negatives are much more common than false positives. Four days is nothing man, just chill out and wait a week. If you cant wait go to the doctor or planned parenthood.

My test was positive about 5 days after my missed period. I kept testing every day (I wanted to be pregnant so bad), and when I already lost my hope, it was positive.

it means she's not pregnant. If she was, the test would've been positive. If you don't believe the test, take it again or go to the doctor. It's only been 4 days. I've been late for two whole months before, all due to stress or hormones
