go through youe itunes library-

there are two ways to do this.

1: uncheck the little check-boxex next to all of the songs that you do not want to transfer to your ipod. then, the next time you sync your ipod, once you've connected it, you should see the properties of your ipod in the main itunes window. there should be an option that reads "only update checked items"
check that box, and then click apply.

2. make playlists. when you plug in your ipod, go to the tab that's labeled music
then, select the option for "only copy selected playlists" and check each of the playlists you want to transfer to your ipod.
then to finish up, click apply.

Connect your iPod to your computer, wait for iTunes to open. Open the Music library on the iPod and highlight and delete the songs you don't want.

iTunes will then ask if you want to delet the files or keep them. Click on keep and they won't come out of the Library on your computer.

If you want to erase them all you just plug in your ipod to the PC and select the complete restore option. If you just want some songs, I just delete what I want off of my playlists and sync my ipod with the playlists on my PC.

you go to library (in itunes ) and press delete/backspace or just drag the song to the trash and it'll ask if you want to delete and you say yes then it'll ask something like if you still wanna save the song just in case you still want it even if you press yes it'll be off of your library so you can save it then make sure you hookup your ipod so it can erase it too.

One can't do it from the iPod however in Itunes you merely select the ipod from the menu on the left, then in the folder of songs that appears on the right delete or add as you please.
